Dr. Sara Kirk

Director (NS)

Sara is a Professor of Health Promotion and Scientific Director of the Healthy Populations Institute at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Originally from the UK, Sara moved to Canada with her family in 2007 to take up a Canada Research Chair, with a program of research that focuses on creating supportive environments for chronic disease prevention. Her research seeks to understand the factors that help or hinder health in our communities, with a focus on scalable solutions to support healthy eating and active living. Sara is passionate about creating healthy and sustainable communities, and practices what she preaches by walking and cycling as often as possible.  She is also a member of the Halifax Cycling Coalition and CarShare Atlantic.
